It's July 18th and summer will end pretty soon after August starts. A good and bad thing.
[Pros. and Cons]
[+]I'll only be writing up to 6 articles per month. Instead of coming up with a topic for every day.
[----] Less sleep at night.
[++++] Seeing all my college friends again
[-] Not being with my old roommate for the first time
[-] Senior research. And not really knowing what my topic/lab work will be
[+]More soccer. And tennis. And running.
[-]Studying. In general. And the stress that comes with all of that
[+]Back to my favorite study spots and coffee shops in Tulsa. And now there's a new bbt place :)
[+]Shooting sports photography for the school paper.
[-+]Cafeteria food. (oh the possibilities!)
[-]Less/no time to do the for funsies stuff that I've spent summer doing
[-]Southern humidity. egads.

Current thoughts:
Even though I was hoping for Ghana to win, and the last moments of the game were insane...I still have to say, "Good job, Uraguay."
Sure, the handball was wrong. But unfair? He was justly penalized for it, and Ghana received their free kick which they failed to cash in on. After playing keeper, I have to say that I appreciate defenders who do whatever they can to help me out when I can't get there. At the expense of a blatant, intentional handball foul though? Yep. If there was no other way to save it and sure defeat lay on the other side. It's wrong; but not unfair, if the all are justly penalized.
Besides. They had a chance to win after that...and still didn't make it :(

favorites~
I like picking favorites. There's really not "good" reason behind most of my favoritism, but then again, there's generally no "good" reason against it.
Sometimes it's simply nice to like things just because.
Favorite:
Essayist: Noel Perrin
American Artist: Norman Rockwell
Inventor/Nutty Scientist: Nicola Tesla
Math symbol: dot triangle (therefore)
Tap Dancer: Gene Kelly? ...this one changes constantly...
Pointe Shoe Brand: Grishko
Chemistry Principle: Le Chatelier's
Flower: Tulip...this changes too...
Seat: Window
Fruit: Mango
Spice: Cinnamon...although I've recently slowly started converting over to various taco seasonings...

"Hey Mike, you busy?
All this sunshine’s making me dizzy
Went outside, all my clothes dried
And if I’m babbling, please forgive me...
And I say hey, it’s a beautiful day
And I’m starting to feel a lot better
So wake up, wake up
It’s T-shirt weather..."
awwwwyeah. pretty much one of the happiest songs ever for summertime :)
other happy things for summer/this weekend:
sketching
collaging
ping pong-ing
inter milan winning
getting a check for freelance photos submitted forever ago
good practice test
and letters from friends

Oh, Snap!
Grades are in and domination is recorded :)
I finished up finals week with an almost all-nighter in meli's room, each of us taking 2-half hour naps somewhere between 4:30 and 6 that morning. As far as late night studying goes, it was probably my best yet; having a friend there is priceless, as are random nerd dance parties around 2:30am.
Best fortune cookie ever to get during finals week:

*foCus*
With so little time left in the semester, it has become crucial to be able to focus on what matters the most--to keep priorities straight.
And yet, still, that's so much easier said than done.
For one, things would be a whole lot simpler if I knew exactly what mattered the most for the long run.
But for today I have chosen:
to focus on the here and now as much as possible
to be all there wherever I am
to love people, life, and my studies (ok. well. i'll try...)

CrunchCrunch
It's crunch time now, as I realized today while sitting in p.chem.
The amount of work that I'm supposed to get done and the amount of knowledge that I'm supposed to absorb between now and summer kinda freaked me out...
however: the sun is shining, I have an amazing roommate and friends, and I'll be stocking up on plenty of ramen for the long nights ahead :)

Almost Finished:
...with this semester.
since daily posting is an unrealistic goal, i think i've settled for a few chunk posts per week.
and i really have been doing decently well about keeping my photo-a-day goal...although my battery's recent decision to have the lifespan of a mayfly has made things rather difficult :(
otherwise:
1)keeping poland in my prayers
2)really wanting to be done with the MCAT
3)needing favor for senior project proposal
4)thinking that the results of el clasico are lame
5)wishing i could play in the sun instead of studying today

Foolhardy-ness
Aw. so I have now been the victim of quite possibly the most elaborate April Fool's prank I've ever heard of...one which started about a week in advance. To my friend's credit, they are quite crafty and good at lying.
Unfortunately for them, there's always next year ;)
Other than that, I've been failing to update this with my daily photos. This week was positively crazy with tests and such, so I'll just post up a few photos here from the pastawhile.

*Spring Snow*
Apparently the Midwest failed to get the memo that spring has sprung...
But, the airport delays did have some advantages to them:
1)I finally compiled a working equation for my quant project. (nasty little nested IF statements...)
2)I got to people watch plenty
3)Reading time!
And now...for a massive onslaught of photos:

Oh, Goodness
So:
I just realized that I've topped $1000 in earnings from my freelance work.
Which for some people with real jobs, that means nothing.
But for a freelance artist/writer without a job who dedicates very little of her actual time or effort to these endeavors...heck. well. that's a fortune :)
Otherwise:
I really wish the internets here were fast enough to upload photos efficiently.
Car rides with Buble playing are quite enjoyable.
I figured out a potential next semester's schedule, studied arthropod anatomy, reviewed for the MCAT, and ate 2 delicious pieces of cinnamon swirl bread today.

Fly Zone
Airports.
They're quite arguably the greatest people-watching avenues around.
And they're also best enjoyed during longer layovers with a good book
and a soy chai.
(even if it's only a poorly made chai.)
